NTB Monitoring

With the promotion of intra and extra-regional trade, SADC has also adopted a Road Map for the Elimination of NTBs and, amongst other things, it envisages a mechanism to constantly monitor the application of NTBs within the region.
RTFP has agreed to finance a NTB Monitoring officer who will be based in the Secretariat.

The officer will be responsible for liaison with the SADC NTB Focal Points in its member States, collating and entering data and monitoring progress made in their removal, as well as being responsible for the exchange of information with COMESA and EAC. Interviews for the position took place in July 2008 and the appointed person will notify reported NTBs, indicate them on the website which is being developed and report on actions taken to remove them. He or she will also disseminate information to the private sector on the subject.
