Posted Feb 06, 2009

Drivers waiting in the queue at ChirunduChirundu border post is a major transit point for traffic passing from southern Africa (and the ports of South Africa and Mozambique) through to the northerly countries (and mines) of Zambia, DR Congo. After two years' of planning on 8th April the new arrangements for one stop crossings will be opened by the Ministers of Zambia and Zimbabwe, watched by the Honourable Gareth Thomas, Under Secretary of State for International Development of the British Government (which has contributed a substantial amount of the funding for the preparatory work).

The Japanese Government, which has also contributed towards the development, will also be represented.
